Oct 21, 2014 Lake Guntersville – The past week has been one of the toughest periods we’ve seen on Guntersville for a very long time…the fish remained scattered and we had to fish areas thoroughly.  Yesterday, we saw signs of improvement as numbers of fish caught increased. With that said we still managed to catch several nice fish on Zara Spooks, Buzzbaits, 30Acre “Dirty Shad” swim baits, Tightline jigs, Pro-Z Frogs, D-bombs and Tomahawk Worms from Missile Baits along with Rapala X-Rap Pop-R’S.  All worked along the back channel grass from Sielbold to BB Comer Bridge.  With the arrival of stable weather patterns and cooler temperatures, it won’t be long before the fish school up and make the move to a more reliable pattern.  Water temperatures range from 63 - 67 degrees.  I have days and professional guides available; make your reservations now for some great action on Guntersville or Tim’s Ford with full time Professional USCG Licensed and Insured guides.  We supply all fishing gear including Duckett Fishing Rods, LEW’s reels; Top quality lures such as Rapala Lures, 30 Acres Swimbaits, Pro-Z Frogs, Missile Baits, Tightline Jigs and Vicious Line. Oct 12, 2014 Lake Guntersville – Despite the continuous rain and/or strong winds almost daily this past week my clients still managed to catch several nice fish on Zara Spooks, Buzzbaits, 30Acre “Dirty Shad” swim baits, Tightline jigs, Pro-Z Frogs, D-bombs and Tomahawk Worms from Missile Baits along with Rapala X-Rap Pop-R’S.  All worked along the back channel grass from Sielbold to BB Comer Bridge.  Yes, we had to cover a lot of water but the key was when you located them slow down and fish the area thoroughly.  With the cooler night time temperatures and shorter days upon us, it won’t be long before the fish school up and make the move to the typical late fall patterns.  Water temperatures range from 71 - 74 degrees.   If anyone is headed to Guntersville be sure to check on the cabins at Waterfront Bay Resort…you will not be disappointed. It’s time to get your dates reserved for the fall frog, top water, crankbait and flipping action. Oct 4, 2014 Lake Guntersville – It appears summer has departed and fall has finally arrived!  The bass remained scattered and finicky over the past week with the first real cold front of the year hitting us.  But my clients still managed to catch several nice fish on 30Acre “Dirty Shad” swim baits, Tightline jigs, Pro-Z Frogs, D-bombs and Tomahawk Worms from Missile Baits along with Rapala X-Rap Pop-R’S.  Highlight of the week was JR Elderidge’s biggest bass ever, 9.61 Toad caught on a PRO-Z Frog.  Water temperatures today range from 71 - 76 degrees.  With the cooler night time temperatures and shorter days upon us, I believe we’ll see a great fall bite start to develop over the next week or so.   If anyone is head to Guntersville be sure to check on the cabins at Waterfront Bay Resort…you will not be disappointed. It’s time to get your dates reserved for the fall frog, top water and flipping/punching action. Sept 24, 2014 Lake Guntersville – What a week it has been!  For the most part fishing on Guntersville can be classified as a workout, with some days better than others but no real pattern other than work the grass lines.  Saturday and Sunday I spent with some great clients just wanting to learn more about the lake and for the past two days Alan White and John Felsher from Great Days Outdoors Magazine and GDO Radio joined us.  We managed to catch several nice fish on 30Acre “Dirty Shad” swim baits, Tightline jigs, Pro-Z Frogs, D-bombs and Tomahawk Worms from Missile Baits along with Rapala X-Rap Pop-R’S. Water temperatures today range from 72 - 78 degrees.  With the cooler night time temperatures and shorter days starting, I believe we’ll see a great fall bite start to develop over the next week or so. All fish where caught, pictured once and released. The photos below are one’s I took and I will post more photos later when John forwards them to me. I want to say a special thanks to the folks at Waterfront Bay Resort and Waterfront Grocery for great service.  If anyone is head to Guntersville be sure to check on the cabins at Waterfront Bay Resort…you will not be disappointed. Water temperatures range from 79 - 84 degrees.  With the cooler temperatures coming over the next week or so, I believe we’ll see a great fall bite start to develop over the next week or so. All fish where caught, pictured once and released.  It’s time to get your dates reserved for the fall frog, top water and flipping/punching action.  I have days and professional guides available; make your reservations now for some great action on Guntersville or Tim’s Ford with full time Professional USCG Licensed and Insured guides.  We supply all fishing gear including Duckett Fishing Rods, LEW’s reels; Top quality lures such as Rapala Lures, Missile Baits, Tightline Jigs and Vicious Line. Sept 6-16, 2014 Lake Guntersville – Not much change in Guntersville over the past week or so, we are still working for every bite we get and still catching fish each day.  Early morning and late afternoon top water continued to provide good action using spooks, Rapala Pop-R’s, and Buzzbaits worked over grass flats.  When the bite slowed we turned Mussel Crawler Jigs from Tightline Jigs, 1.5 crankbaits, and Super Bug D-Bombs from Missile Baits rigged for punching the grass along channels. Water temperatures dropped a little this week with the cooler nights, but seem to gain it back by days end; temperatures range from 79 - 84 degrees.  The typical frog bite spotty at best, mainly because the grass just has not developed as normal - I look for the frog action to really pick up later in September and October if the weather cooperates. All fish where caught, pictured once and released.  It’s time to get your dates reserved for the fall frog and flipping/punching action. Aug 27-30, 2014 Lake Guntersville – Again this week…we had to work for every bite we got this past week, but we still managed some good fish each day.  Early morning and late afternoon top water continued to provide good action using spooks, Rapala Pop-R’s, and Buzzbaits worked over grass flats.  When that bite slowed we turned Mussel Crawler Jigs from Tightline Jigs, 1.5 crankbaits, and Super Bug D-Bombs from Missile Baits rigged for punching the grass along channels. Water temperatures range from 83- 86 degrees.  The typical frog bite is running behind mainly because the grass just has not developed as normal - I look for the frog action to really pick up later in September and October. Do to the continued extreme heat all fish where caught, pictured once and released.  It’s time to get your dates reserved for the fall frog and flipping/punching action. July 26, 2014 Lake Guntersville – We fish the gambit the last couple days as I had the pleasure of fishing with repeat clients.  You must be ready to change presentation this time of the year, but for us Flipping/punching with a ¾ to 1 ounce Tungsten and D-Bomb in hydrilla proved to be the most reliable when the sun came out, we also caught lots of good fish using Hollow Body Frogs such as a Snag Proof Black in color, big worms on ½ ounce Shaky Heads, Jigs, top water lures such as Sammy’s and Spooks. Water temperatures range from 82-84 degrees on the main lake/channel. The 10th Annual Snag Proof Frog Only tournament is 9 Aug 2014 out of Goose Pond. July 18, 2014 Lake Guntersville –Hit the water yesterday with fellow guide Capt Phillip Criss for some exploring and fun fishing.  While the most reliable bite had been flipping/punching with a ¾ to 1 ounce Tungsten and D-Bomb, it only produced a couple of bite yesterday.  The better pattern with the cooler temps and rain for us was top water lures such as Ribbet Frogs and Spooks.  To dispel some rumors or ease some concerns we’ve been hearing; the grass seems to be 2-3 weeks behind normal.  In the coming weeks we should start seeing more and more areas like the one pictured.  Water temperatures dropped due to the cooler nights/ rain and range from 79-83 degrees on the main lake/channel. It’s time to get your dates reserved for the early season frog and flipping/punching action. July 13-17, 2014 Lake Guntersville – For the past week we found the lake/fishing conditions to be close to normal for July on both Guntersville and Tim’s Ford.  This week was all about getting young anglers catching fish and everyone had great time on the water. Congratulations to Duckett Fishing for beings awarded “Best Freshwater Rod” at ICAST today!  For the most part we had to slow down our presentations and change tactics throughout the day. Over the past week we have caught fish in every depth of water this week from 3 to 30 feet.  When there is water moving you can catch them on deep diving crank baits and Swimbaits, there is still several places where bass are schooling and if you are there when it happens you can catch them on top, we found Pop-R’s to work best.  The most reliable bite for us has been flipping/punching with a ¾ to 1 ounce Tungsten and D-Bomb. We are still catching a few fish in the lily pads and scattered Milfoil with hollow body frogs off and on during the day.  Water temperatures range from 84-89 degrees on the main lake/channel.  It’s time to get your dates reserved for the early season frog and flipping/punching action. July 7-11, 2014 Lake Guntersville – Conditions are about normal for summer time fishing on Guntersville.  Clients are catching fish and all are having a great time on the water.   I highly recommend anglers slow down their presentations and be ready to change tactics throughout the day. Over the past week we have caught fish in every depth of water this week from 3 to 30 feet.  When there is water moving you can catch them on deep diving crank baits and Swimbaits, there is several places where bass are schooling and if you are there when it happens you can catch them on top.  The most reliable bite for us has been flipping/punching with a ¾ ounce Tungsten and D-Bomb. July 5, 2014 Lake Guntersville – This past week has been up and down for us, but everyone still managed to catch fish and have a good time on the lake.  For the most part sometime during the day you can really smash them, the rest of the time you have to really work for them and make every bite count. The best advice is to slow down presentations and be ready to change tactics throughout the day. I say that because we caught fish in every depth of water this week from 3 to 30 feet.  When there is water moving you can catch them on deep diving crank baits and Swimbaits, there is several places where bass are schooling and if you are there when it happens you can catch them on top.  The most reliable bite for us has been flipping with a ¾ ounce Tungsten and D-Bomb. We are still catching fish in the lily pads and scattered Milfoil with hollow body frogs off and on during the day.  Keep a Pop-R handy and you can run the numbers up fast if you can find some of the schooling fish running the main channel.  Water temperatures range from 84-86 degrees on the main lake/channel.  It’s time to get your dates reserved for the early season frog and flipping/punching action.  The 10th Annual Snag Proof tournament is scheduled for August 9th 2014, POC is Jamie Shay at Goose Pond Bait Tackle and Grill. We offer a Military Discount and the dedication to making your trip successful.  “Let’s go fish’ in

15-17 June 2014 Lake Guntersville – Over the past couple days, we caught fish at every depth of water you can put the boat in from 1 to 25 foot of water.  The ledge fishing is good, especially when there is some current with ½ and ¾ ounce Tightline Mussel Crawler Jigs, 8-10 inch worms and deep diving crankbaits such as a Rapala DT -20 or 16.  In areas where the grass is starting to top out; we have found a great hollow body frog and flipping bite in thick primrose and lily pads.  If you looking for pure numbers; early in the morning and late afternoon several schools of bass are running the main channel grass lines.  Water temperatures range from 81-85 degrees on the main lake/channel.  It’s time to get your dates reserved for the early season frog action.  With that said there is a couple of great frog tournaments coming up soon; New this year is the King Frog Bass Tour on July 26, August 30, September 27 with a two day Championship on 11 & 12 Oct 2014 out of Goose Pond, rules and entry forms can be found at www.kingfrogbassseries.com or call Gene Brooks at 423-645-3547.  The 10th Annual Snag Proof tournament is scheduled for August 9th 2014, POC is Jamie Shay at Goose Pond Bait Tackle and Grill.
