A little something about Mid South Bass Guide, our mission here is simple, I call it the three E’s (Effort and Experience equals Excellence) With that I offer reasonable guided-trip rates (no extra cost for lures/tackle and I do give a military discount), professional and courteous service, top-quality fishing lures, tackle, and gear...our primary goal is providing you absolutely the best and safest fishing experience they can provide.

Using my ten plus years of knowledge on Guntersville, Nickajack and Tim's Ford, I will get to work to provide memories of a lifetime, catching trophy smallmouth or largemouth. I’ll share professional anglers' secrets, tips, tactics, and tools, orient you to a new lake, or help you map out a plan for upcoming tournaments.
Who am I, In 2004, than, MSgt. Jake Davis retired from the US Air Force and my Better half Kerrie, settled down in a rural community not far from middle Tennessee's southern border. Then drawing on my professional training in Business Management and Marketing, as well as bass tournament competitor and director experience spanning 25 plus years, I joined Current River MFG/Secret Weapon Lures as Prostaff Director. In May 2005, I became the VP of Business Development...After four years of tackle shows, media events, radio and having set that company on a trajectory to become one of the premiere fishing tackle manufacturers in the southeast US. My better half (Kerrie) knew I was missing his time on the water and feeling my job as VP was complete...it was time for a change of pace and I retired again and started guiding full time! Although, I continued to consult for several industry companies, I finally discovered the perfect office— the casting deck of a Triton TR-20X bass boat! That's where you will find me most days of the year. To be exact 223 days in 2010 and with just over 287 days so far in 2011 as of 30 Nov 2011... Why should you choose my guide service, well that’s a tough one for he to answer…here’s what three time client (Greg Howell or In the last six months, I have used Jakes' services multiple times and, as an avid fisherman, know when fishing is easy or tough. Every time we have gone out, it has been tough. However, Jake has been determined to locate the fish for me and he has always come through. I have nothing but high praise for him and the effort he puts into finding fish. As a retired veteran, with a strong military background, Jake uses that discipline to seek out and find fish. He goes out of his way to ensure that I have had as successful a trip as possible. I have gone out with other guides before and they have never put out the effort he does. I would go as far as to personally guarantee that, if there are fish to be caught, he will find them!
For those who know me, I can't resist a challange; As of 1 May 2011, I was asked by the New Owners of Current River MFG to return as VP of Business Delevopement...well now I'm not just a full time guide, but I'm back in the tackle areana. I took the challange with some restrictions...I will not give up my time on the water! So, I still have the best office going and let's go fish'in.....
